PE breathable film

The PE breathable film is called a breathable film. A functional inorganic product is evenly mixed into the polyethylene raw material to make the product produce micropores due to high stretching during the film formation process. The micropore distribution density is relatively large, so PE breathable membrane has a certain amount of water vapor transmission, only breathable body without leakage of liquid. Because of its characteristics, it is widely used in personal care, clothing textiles, medical and health, agriculture, construction, soft stickers and other fields.

Introduction of PE breathable film

PE breathable membrane is a new type of polymer waterproof material. From the technological point of view, the technical requirements are much higher than those of general waterproof materials; at the same time, from the quality point of view, the breathable membrane also has functional characteristics that other waterproof materials do not have.

 

The film forming principle of breathable film:

PE+CaCO3 (masterbatch)--extrusion --stretching --breathable film

 

The PE breathable film is blended with LDPE/LLDPE polyethylene resin carrier by adding about 50% of special calcium carbonate, and then oriented and stretched to a certain ratio after being extruded into a film.

Since polyethylene resin is a thermoplastic material, it can be stretched and crystallized under certain conditions. During stretching, the interface between the polymer and the calcium carbonate particles will be peeled off, and the interconnected serpentine pores or pores will be formed around the calcium carbonate particles. Channels, it is these pores and channels that give the film a breathable function.

Permeable to gas but not water, can be used as a water-proof material, with moisture resistance

Problems in the processing and production of PE breathable film

During the processing, uneven film thickness, die stacking problems, gels, crystal spots, etc. appear in the film, which affect the appearance and quality of the film. Therefore, how to eliminate melt fracture, avoid die accumulation, and reduce the crystal points in the mold and other issues have attracted attention.

In view of the above problems, potential solutions:

Start with raw materials: reduce the use of stearates or wax additives, and use antioxidants with better compatibility

Start with the process: increase the die temperature

Start with additives: fluoropolymer additives can be added
